Hands Across Asia - Taiwan, the Jews, and Israel
Featuring Professor Meron Medzini
We are delighted to welcome back Prof. Meron Medzini, direct from Israel via Zoom, to discuss the ties between Israel and Tawain. Lying on the opposite sides of Asia, Israel and Taiwan emerged as independent entities in 1948 and 1949 respectively. Both arose out of wars imposed on them by their neighbors who still refuse to accept their existence as independent, sovereign and democratic entities. Both people are heirs to ancient languages, civilization and culture. The discussion will focus on how both people developed ties that enabled them to learn from each other's experiences.
Professor Meron Medzini served as Director of the Israel Government Press Office in Jerusalem form 1962-1978, working with 5 prime ministers from Ben Gurion to Begin. He is the author of many books, of which his most recent, Hands Across Asia—Israel-Tawain Relations, is due to be released this month.
The program is free and open to the community.
